I have always loved tattoos. I didn't get one until I was 33 years old. I also have a reverence for the fact that a tattoo is almost impossible to remove completely. When you decide to ink your body, you want to make sure that you know you are making a permanent decision. That said, I think the art of tattooing is beautiful and have always loved the idea of photographing someone with tattoos. Kat, was someone I did headshot for a few months ago. She was more than happy to come back and do a creative shoot with me. I am in love with the results! To see more of my work look at my galleries.
The Princess and The Pea: Fine Art Children's Photographer
So this photo shoot appeals to me on so many levels. One, I love staging fairy tale or ethereal photo shoots. Two, I love working with children. Three, I love being with my child. One of my creative projects for the year is to recreate some of the real Grimm's Fairy Tales.
Lucy and I totally got into the Princess and the pea idea! To see some of my other children's photos view my gallery.
Spring has sprung!
I had a blast this weekend! Working with kids is my favorite thing to do and this little girl made my day! She is such a little character and so sweet. When I suggested that we have fun and start playing she jumped right in and had a blast. Just take a look! If you want to see more of my work with kids view my Children's Gallery!
Little Red Riding Hood! A Creative Shoot
After coming home from doing the Rapunzel Photo shoot, Lucy said to me, "Mommy, I want to do that!". Well she didn't have enough hair for Rapunzel, LOL but she makes a stunning Red Riding Hood! See some more of my children's photos!
Winter Portraits with their besties
This winter has been cold and brutal with the snow! This two dolls added some light and warmth to a cold day. I am so glad they came to brave the chill with me. Want to see more cutie pies, look at this gallery!
When life gives you snow...make snowmen!!!
We have been hit hard here in the Northeast. No one is venturing out for much. It has been one storm after another and more snow expected on Tuesday! For sure we will make it to the snowiest winter on record for Boston. There is so much time left in winter, how could we not. But we are New Englanders, we need to teach our kids to be tough when it comes to snow! So we had a blast today playing in the snow and then brought some more inside to play kitchen with snow and food coloring. Then the ultimate was our snow volcano!
Here are some pictures of the fun! Check out some more of my artistic children portraits!
Children's Portraits during the New England snowpocalypse!
For many of us, it seems like life has been put on hold. There is so much snow, no one wants to leave the house, and at the same time we all have cabin fever! So in the middle of the latest snowstorm, Lucy and I went out to play in the snow! Snow Kitchen and building snow castles was just what the doctor ordered. Of course the shoveling at nap time was not!
Keeping things real in the winter_ Creative Portraits of Children
Well, winter in New England can certainly be dismal sometimes. We have gotten so much snow with much more forecasted on the way! It is like we live in Antarctica! Before all the snow came, I set out to do a creative project and have gathered up a small group of great kids to model as something to have fun with. I wanted to do a segment on Grimm's fairy tales, the real ones! Something a little darker but still playful and fun. Here are the fruits of my labors. Also Abby's I might add since it was 20 degrees outside and she wore this cute little dress. You can see more of my creative children's photos in the Childrens Gallery!
Holiday Portrait Session: Fine Art Family Photographer The Mirrored Image Photography
I absolutely loved working with this family on their family portraits. I had donated a family portrait session to one of our local charities. The mother of these families bought the session and asked me if I could squeeze in a session before Christmas. Of course, I was happy to oblige. It was so cold this day and the children were absolute troops. All in all, I was happy that we were able to capture such stunning images for them to bring back to their mom.
Stunning Family, Stunning Photos: South Shore Portrait Photography
I can't even begin to tell you how busy the holidays were. Not just the photo shoots, which I was lucky enough to have a lot of but also the preparation for hosting Christmas this year. Now that the holidays are past, I think it is safe to post some of my favorites from these Family Portrait Sessions. This was such a great family to work with and what is better on a temperate Sunday afternoon than going for a walk in the woods and taking photos? Outdoor Family Portraits are my favorite. Children's photography especially. To me there is nothing more fun than interacting with and observing a children's view of the world and I love to capture that through the lens!

Fun in the Fall: Family Photo Session
Who can resist this time of year? The chill in the air, The colors of the leaves. Autumn is definitely my favorite season and my favorite time to do family photo shoots. I just love the vibrant colors and the playfulness of jumping in the leaves and the fun whimsical feeling that comes with it. Luckily this family totally agrees!

Small Business Shout out: Alden Park Bar and Grill
One of the restaurants I am very fond of in Plymouth is Alden Park. I can't say enough about them. The food is good, the atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed. It is my usual choice for bringing clients when I meet them for a glass of wine. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. Alden Park is also always trying new things when it comes to events. From Paint Nite to having a medium come in to hosting a charity event. They helped me to get a start on my Cameras and Cocktails Events as well. It is so great to see someplace in town that is trying to generate night life with fun ideas! If you haven't had the opportunity to eat there yet, Don't wait. Trust me, you will be happy you stopped in!
Photo Tip of the week: Take better pictures with your IPhone or My favorite photo app!: Professional Photographer Plymouth South Shore
So many people are thrilled about the new release of the iPhone 6. I am one of them. I am also very disappointed that I won't get an upgrade to my phone for another year. Most of my disappointment has to do with the changes that Apple has made to their camera and the fact that I desperately want to get my hands on that! If you are like me and won't be getting a new iPhone any time soon, let me help! Here are just a few helpful tips that have made my picture taking much better with my current IPhone:
1. Camera+ : this is probably the best app that I have found for gaining control over your pictures. You can control your many facets of your overall frame as well as the different components of your picture.
2. Use the little box: You have all seen this; the square that pops up in the middle of your frame. Did you know that when you tap in the middle of that box, your phone selects your exposure? Also, you can move that box, I suggest moving it to the darkest part of your image and seeing if this helps to give you something that is more evenly exposed.
3. Pay attention to the light: If you are posing people, and I have said this about taking pictures with a camera as well, move them to a place with good light. The easiest way to take a well exposed picture is to put people in the shade. That way no one has weird shadows on their faces and you can expose for a even lighting source. If you are comfortable with being a little more advanced, play with light. Look for highlighting on hair or other neat accents to your photo.
4. Keep your finger on the trigger and steady yourself: The iPhone won't take a picture until you let go of the capture button so hold your figure on the button to set the frame and make sure you are happy, then release your finger.
Good luck with all of this and I hope it helps. Happy Shooting!
Beaches and Family Reunions: Professional Photographer Plymouth South Shore
This has been the perfect summer for beach photos! It has been sunny and not too hot, just a nice temperate climate that really makes people feel comfortable and at ease taking photos. This year I have had a lot of family reunion type photos. I have had so much fun meeting people and getting to know them while taking their photos.
These are just a few from one of the last family reunions I was lucky enough to be a part of!

A new take on Head Shots: Oceanside Animal Hospital: Professional Photographer Plymouth South Shore
I love when a creative take on something comes along. A chance to do something new. I have been working with Oceanside Animal Hospital for a few years as a photographer for their website and on the flip side as a client. I love that Oceanside puts so much care and thoughtfulness in everything they do. Taking pictures is no different. Each professional was encouraged to bring their pet to work and be photographed with them. Kathy and Lucy are the latest example of that. Kathy is one of the technicians at Oceanside Animal Hospital. Some of her responsibilities include taking patient histories, weighing patients, reviewing vaccination records, filling prescriptions, scheduling appointments, and assisting the doctor during examinations. Kathy’s favorite thing about work is it never feels like she’s working! Kathy would prefer a lick on the face over a thank you any day! Lucy is one of her beautiful canine babies.
Thanks Oceanside for all you do including taking care of my canine baby Charlie!
Boudoir Photography: Beautiful Curves: Professional Photographer Plymouth South Shore
Boudoir Photography is a something that I think every woman should consider these days. Not for their spouse or future spouse or significant other but for themselves. Most women that come to me seeking boudoir photography are doing them as a gift for someone. "M" is no different. She is getting married in a few weeks and presenting these as a gift to her husband on their wedding day. I think it is a wonderful sentiment and something that he will truly love! What I liked even more was spending the time with M and taking pictures that showed her through then lens of a camera how beautiful she is. I believe that these types of photos are a gift to ourselves as well. They take back what media has stolen, a sense of self worth and beauty for every woman. I am sure you will agree that "M' rocks her curves with style! Her soon to be husband is a lucky man! Congratulations "M"!
Small Business Shout out: Nosh Tavern
I am a big proponent of supporting small business especially when that business is also involved in the local food movement. One of the things I like best about Nosh is their Sunday brunch. Their menu is both creative and incredibly tasty. In addition it does not break the bank. Breakfast at Nosh has a upscale South End of Boston feel to it at local Plymouth size prices! If you have not been enjoyed a meal there yet don't waste any more time!
